Our Story

OUR STORY

Palladium is a French company based in a rural city close to Lyon, France. Since its founding in 1947, Palladium has sold more than 60 million pairs of shoes worldwide. To this day, each pair of Palladiums is constructed with the same basic elements as the originals: natural materials, authentic colors and a lug sole designed for maximum durability and functionality.

In 1950, we introduced the rubber soled Pallabrousse in beige canvas. Since then, it has been the preferred shoe for the French Army, scouts, hunters and world travelers. Today, the Pallabrousse is the same as it has always been. Versions of the original are worn everywhere in the world by all generations looking for shoes with original styling and utilitarian functionality.

Since 1998, Palladium has been a subsidiary of Consolidated Shoe Company located in Lynchburg, VA. Palladium shoes are sold worldwide to a very focused group of better retailers, select department and athletic stores.

What makes an original Palladium so original:

Raw Materials – Canvas, Leather, Rubber

  • Palladium canvas is woven using exclusive Palladium techniques making them exceptionally resistant (to heat, tearing, twisting etc.)
  • The natural rubber soles are exceptionally resistant to abrasion and tearing.

Manufacturing Process – The Only One of Its Kind

  • The original Palladium is manufactured using an exclusive 135˚ F vulcanization process, ensuring unique anchorage of the canvas to the rubber.

Trimming – Inspection – Packing

  • Trimming (manual removal of imperfections resulting from vulcanization), inspection of anchorage after vulcanization, insertion of rivets and insoles, etc. and all finishing including packing is done manually.

Stress Tests

  • 21 mechanical tests are performed on canvas, laces, eyelets and stiffening.
  • 12 tests check resistance to traction and tearing.
  • 7 tests check color fastness.
  • 9 mechanical tests check rubber abrasion, hardness and resistance to splitting.
